For Black Montessori leaders and school founders, growth can represent increased access, greater community impact, and the opportunity to serve more children and families. However, growth also brings new challenges. Increased enrollment, additional classrooms, staffing needs, financial responsibilities, facilities, policies, and organizational systems can begin to shift the culture of a school if growth is not approached intentionally.
Through practical examples, reflection, and lessons learned through school leadership, participants will explore how to balance growth, Montessori fidelity, accessibility, staff development, financial sustainability, and community relationships.
This session challenges participants to consider growth not simply as increasing enrollment, but as increasing the organization’s capacity to serve children and families well. The goal is not simply to become a bigger Montessori school.
The goal is to build a Montessori community strong enough to grow without forgetting why we exist.
