Our Programs

The BMEF invests in the full ecosystem of Black Montessori education. We support the educators who teach, the families who choose this path, the leaders who build programs, and the community that sustains it all. Our programs are designed to work together — each one strengthening the others and deepening our collective impact across the United States and the Black diaspora.

Scholarships and Grants

The BMEF's scholarship and grant programs invest directly in the people and programs at the heart of Black Montessori education. Named in honor of Willa Mae Golden, one of Washington D.C.'s first Black Montessori-trained public school educators, our scholarship program funds Black educators pursuing Montessori certification, families who need support with tuition, school leaders building programs, and researchers studying Montessori outcomes in Black communities.

Our scholarship program operates in annual cycles. Applications are currently paused. Sign up below to be notified when the next cycle opens.

Membership

The BMEF membership program is how we sustain community beyond our annual convenings and scholarship cycles. Open to individuals, families, and institutions, membership offers tiered access to resources, professional development, and a growing network of Black Montessori practitioners and advocates.

Family members receive parent education resources. Individual members receive educator tools and professional development. Institutions receive program-building resources. All members have access to our members-only community forum and free monthly webinars qualifying for professional development credit.

We launched our membership program in 2025 and now we have 140 members. Reduced pricing is available for members in lower-resourced economies, reflecting our commitment to accessibility across the diaspora.
