our sponsorsThe BMEF began with seed funding from the biggest Montessori organizations in the US and globally.
In 2020, giving to Black-led organizations was catalyzed by the nationwide protest against police brutality following the murder of George Floyd. The BMEF was a response to an inequitable system—borne to position not just education as a pathway to liberation, but holistic, proven, child-centred education.
Thus, the organizations working at the forefront of developing educators to meet the task of high-fidelity Montessori programs became some of our early supporters as we looked to open the doors of Montessori to more Black people in the US and globally.
As the Montessori movement has continued to grow and take hold in communities around the world, the BMEF is positioned to ensure that it is not just high-fidelity, but culturally appropriate. Below are the pioneering, ongoing, sponsors who support that vision.
Our Partners
Montessorian, long-time BMEF supporter, and co-author of The Montessori Toddler, The Montessori Baby, and The Montessori Child, Simone Davies, has a wealth of Montessori resources both in her books and on her website for parents, teachers, and Montessori lovers alike!
She hosts online workshops and masterclasses through her website, and sometimes gives part of the proceeds of these events toward the BMEF to support our scholarship program.

Another long-time Montessorian and BMEF supporter, Elizabeth Slade, author, Executive Director of Public Montessori in Action, also donates portions of the proceeds from her book Montessori in Action: Building Resilient Montessori Schools, to the BMEF cause.
She is a frequent presenter at Montessori conferences and offers professional support, courses, workshops, fellowships and a wealth of other resources through her website.
